Afraid of the wrong things

Politicians control you by inventing things for you to be afraid of, then convincing you to give them power so they can protect you. That's why they invented God, the ultimate protection racket. Behave like they want you to or else you'll be tortured for all eternity. And pay no attention to the man behind the curtain molesting the altar boy.

Second to God is the foreign enemy. This one's trickier because they really exist. But to put things in perspective:

Residents of USA who in the last 10 years:
Died of heart disease, cancer, and stroke: 12 million
Died in accidents: 1.2 million
Died of the flu or pneumonia: 560,000
Died at the hands of terrorists: 3000
Died because imaginary sky daddy decided to kill them and torture them for eternity: 0

So may I humbly suggest that there are a lot of people afraid of the wrong things?

Get your flu shot, put your phone in your pocket when you drive, and don't get fooled again.

Flu shot? Heavens no!! Haven't you heard? Vaccines cause autism. Of course, there's no scientific evidence, but some very sincere folks say it's so on the web, so we now have large numbers of kids exposed to the very real dangers of polio, mumps, measles, rubella, etc. just to make Mommy and Daddy feel better.

Yes I agree. Awesome post! Except the flu shot part LOL. All kinds of grossness in those formulas now...

Very true. Actually, I read that human brains are the only ones that react the same both to real or imaginary dangers. Therefore, the more (and only?) scary thing for us are our thoughts. Why it seems so hard to have nice thoughts all day long then...? What a wonderful world... at least for the nice thinkers.

The concept of God as an old guy in the sky who judges and punishes people is a creation of religion. Never confuse God with religion. The two have nothing to do with each other except that religion uses false teachings about God to control people.
God is spirit, love, life and pure energy. To deny those things are real is to deny all existence and awareness. Even to deny your own Self.
Politicians are like all self-serving narcissists. They're just doing what they are.
That's my 2 cents.

I kinda have to agree with what Chris said, I feel that Man created God in his own image , not the other way round. People get hung up on the word God when in reality our earthly comprehension has no way of naming something so all encompassing, our minds cannot name it. To name it is to put a boundary around it and we know that what we
call God is endless with no boundaries.....

I have to agree with Kris. Unfortunately the way people mainly practice and experience religion in our world would lead me to the conclusion that Man made God in his own image and not the other way around!
How can we name something that knows no boundaries is endless timeless and all encompassing ? Religion compartmentalizes, says in a fact that there is a known way , usually there way, however the seekers know that no one can be excluded from the divine- no matter what color, religion or race, name it what you want if it makes you feel closer to this presence, it is the un-namable that we have trouble naming, but do we really need to ? Shouldn't we just feel it in our breath? Our hearts? Lets lay down our swords, our need to be right, and it starts in our own hearts, our own families. If we could all just focus on our own little patch of back yard and forgive and forget our own grievances with our friends and loved ones we would be in alignment with our destiny.

I agree wholeheartedly. also love "The Who" references by QL and the "seeker". How did our politicians get so powerful in the first place? Oh yeah, we're too busy paying taxes to devote time to minding how our Governors govern us.
