I can play!

Thanks to the quiet diplomacy of WSOP commissioner Jeffrey Pollack and to many of my fellow poker players vouching for my character, Harrah’s has decided to allow me to play in the remainder of the WSOP and lifted the ban on my entering their properties. I’m still learning the details of why this was handled this way but it’s looking more and more like a big mistake. As usual everyone at Harrah’s was friendly and professional. I will post more details as they become available but I can now eat at the buffet without fear of arrest.

I want to thank everyone who supported me from the bottom of my heart. It is very gratifying to know how much my friends care.

I guess I won’t be needing the “Free Quiet Lion!” hats and t-shirts after all.

Welcome back. I never understood the trespass part, but the mistake theory makes sense. None is this is how Harrahs traditionally has done business.

What bothers me the most is the attitude that somehow, the casino offered a game they probably shouldn't have, it was the players' fault for winning at it. I mean, if you want to put with with execs who are more vindictive and arrogant than competent, there's Bellagio.

In passing, I feel that the Caesars name was injured more than yours'. While it's easy to say the (soon to be former) HET folk can't deal with action on a scale as yours, the decision likely came from someone outside their culture, and was rubberstamped by those higher up the food chain.

One of the bittersweet things about playing machines is that you have executives making $150K+/yr who literally don't know if a flush beats a straight who make decisions regarding player marketing. Sometimes, what happened to you is the admission price for all those favorable situations one encounters over the years.

I'm much more interested in who from Caesars gets fired over this. I make the line at 5 people.

As an actual stockholder in Harrah's, I was appalled to find out how they treated you! I was even more chagrined because I recently received a letter introducing me to my "team" of casino hosts I can call upon at Caesar's. I guess I'm the type of player they DO know how to make money off of.. However, guess they realized they'll make more money off someone who's betting $300-$600 a pull on a slot machine versus someone who's betting $100 a day...

Can't find the dagnabbed quote...but it goes something like;

'Never argue with someone who buys ink by the boxcar' - (referring to a quibble with William Randolph Hearst)

equates these days with;

'Don't think you can muzzle one of the Founding Fathers of InfoTech'

Good for you, Quiet(ish) Lion !!!
